Great experience with this cottage rental!
This was a first visit to North Shore Oahu so there was a lot to take in. But having stayed at many other rentals off the mainland, this one was very nice for us. It's located close to many things that will take a car plus many beach trips we did well with the bikes and when we were lazy it was short walk to Foodland, nearby foodtrucks and a great stretch of beach that was not very crowded at all, mostly locals. The home itself is very well equipped and we were able to use the TV without hassle, make meals, BBQ, wash clothes and relax after a long day sightseeing. Aaron was always available and reachable throughout our stay and yet it also felt like we had the property to ourselves. He also gave great advice on spots to see, places to eat. One suggestion was Haleiwa Joe's in Haleiwa. We might have passed this one up since it looked too popular from the reviews. But it was by far our favorite place. The apps and entrees were incredible, the drinks (try the "moe"rita, passionfruit margarita) were unusually tasty and the views from our table of the harbor were truly memorable. Service, like most we found throughout our visit, was over the top whether we were at a 4star restaurant or a food truck, "mahalo" is not just a word. One last note on the property, it felt extremely secure with a private gate and a remote and not visible from the street. Without repeating what many others have said, it is true this place does look too good to be true. But it's for real and anyone who is ready for a north shore vacation will truly enjoy the comfort of a private home in paradise. Probably the only thing we didn't expect about this trip, but had nothing to do with this cottage, was how necessary our car was for what we wanted to do. The beaches are all so different, some very swimmable and others very dangerous. So it takes a little trial and error to find the beaches that work for you. Plus, we found driving to Lanikai for snorkeling/kayaying/hiking, Kailua for the beach and a fantastic fresh poke shop (Hibachi's) and other areas closer to Honolulu was very necessary. We didn't spend one minute at Waikiki or Honolulu other than the airport and had a great time exploring using Yelp and locals as our guides. Thank you Aaron and Anna for a truly memorable visit to your beautiful home.
